A Mother's Monologue, by Delilah Dennett
Delilah Dennett is a writer and performer. She recently participated in the Centre 59 performance programme, which was curated by Daniel Kaluuya. Dennett's one-woman dramatic play 'A Mother's Monologue' reached the final reading rounds for open submission calls at Theatre503 and Bush Theatre (beating out over 800 other plays for the latter). Her short play 'ShadowSkinDraper' reached the longest for the Broken Silence Theatre Voices From Home festival.
One night, Mother returns home aggravated and distressed. She is alone. She is far from her homeland. And she has been estranged from her adult daughter for 13 years. Pacing her flat throughout the night, Mother has a story to share. From her tumultuous upbringing in Inner Mongolia as the child of two ethnic cleansing survivors, to her difficulty adjusting to life in Britain, Mother will tell her life story, all leading up to a devastating reveal. A new play about generational trauma and how conflict shapes parenting practice, 'A Mother's Monologue' offers a unique insight into motherhood as experienced by East Asian women and compel audiences with its deeply flawed but sympathetic protagonist.

Alma/Doll: a lyric cabaret, is the story of the life-sized effigy - commissioned by her ex-lover - of Austrian composer Alma Mahler, told from the perspective of the doll’s maker Hermine Moos, Alma, and the Doll itself. What does it mean to be the object of someone’s obsession? Is Alma the victim or the heroine of the tale? How would you react, if your image was made into an object? We eavesdrop on an imaginary conversation between the women at the centre of this footnote of art history, using recollections from Alma’s autobiography, letters to and from Hermine, verbatim testimony from modern day women, and music from Alma’s compositions.

A C.I.C Based in Thanet, Kent, funded by Arts Council England currently having a book published with Black Dog Press with photography and interviews. We also make short films. We direct, design and produce theatre shows, and collaborate with other companies and youth community groups. Our shows are devised by the company and collaborators, use original soundtracks, movement and text. We believe circus and movement can sometimes portray emotion better than words alone. Catrin first developed Being Boring at Screaming Alley open mic nights and part of it was made into a sound installation for Ramsgate Festival of Sound and played in the toilets of the Artillery Arms.
When her partner runs off with her pilates teacher Angie Sandra is left bereft and broke. But when Dave re locates his music studio from Margate to her box room in Ramsgate a musical collaboration is born. A keenly observed darkly humorous take on living in 2020's post pandemic Britain

Southern Arrow is a 20 minute piece exploring the idea of Lost. The piece is a culmination of 10 short explorative scenes, each with a different take on the theme of lost, some are more subtle interpretations, and some are more physical. At the same time as having 10 different takes, it has an underlying storyline open to interpretation that binds the piece together. Hip Hop is the artistic practice used to convey these ideas and structure in the piece, as well as making it visually fun & aurally interesting. Southern Arrow is a fun light hearted piece, but has many layers for the trained-eye to unpack.
